Value of Residual Income
March 8, 2008
Residual income is a complicated process. This is so because there is no real connection to the work that is performed and the money that you make. Residual income occurs by a process of repeated sales on work that you do only once. When you think of affiliate marketing, you will find that it is a perfect example of residual income. When an affiliate posts an ad on a website, and consumers click on that ad, the affiliate receives a commission. There is no limit to the amount of clicks that can be received therefore the affiliate will receive a commission time and time again.
There are many ways to create residual income. If you are creative, you have an edge on the competition. Many people contract with authors to create e-books. The e-books are then renamed and sold to consumers. This is called private label marketing. The e-books can be sold over and over again creating residual income. This can also be done by contracting article-writing services. With this type of residual income, it is almost impossible to fail to create residual income.
Numerous people attempt to earn a residual income on their own, but the market is currently filled with the previously mentioned opportunities. Today, those looking to benefit from a residual income must find different ways on how to make this sort of income. This sometimes means working faster than the next person in order to achieve results.
A creative affiliate can draw the consumer to their website with captivating ads. The consumer becomes curious and once on the website, more often then not, will end up subscribing to the affiliate’s newsletter. A creative affiliate will offer free gifts for subscribing. Once the affiliate’s subscriber list is big enough, he or she will send an email to subscribers with information on new products or services. The affiliate may also offer to post information regarding the subscriber’s products or services so they can start creating residual income also.
Another thing that affiliates do is to recruit people to sell the same things that they are selling. If any of the people are successful the affiliate will be taking a portion of commission that they make on any sale. This means that the affiliate is making more residual income. This is known as MLM or multi-level marketing; it is frowned on in some quarters, but it is still used by a good number of people running small businesses online.
If an affiliate does decide to go down the MLM route to earn extra income then he or she should help the new recruits to set up their website and explain to them the best ways of getting traffic to that website. Without traffic many online businesses would not exist as they rely on people finding their website through Google or another of the search engines. In order to be successful in online businesses and in making residual income, a person has to know how to ensure that their site will be found by the search engines. Many good business ideas fail because the person initiating the idea has not familiarized themselves either with the value of good content or the importance of keywords - both of which are vital for any online business success and a reasonable residual income.
