Best Shopping Cart Software Options
Recencently I have been considering starting my own ecommerce site. In my research I have come across, and gone through many shopping cart software reviews. There seems to be two types of solutions available: hosted software and licensed software.
Licensed software is software that you purchase and/or download included with this package there is usually free software as well. Licensed software is adventageous for many reason the most beneficial is probably the fact that you can customize this type of software to meet you specific need.
Hosted software solutions has various different types of services that they offer which may include: credit card processing, comprehensive reporting features, live support, and marketing help. These solutions can not downloaded to your computer or server. They are hosted on the provider’s website and there is normally a monthly fee associated with this. Choosing additional features will lead to extra charges or a more expensive monthly bill.
Which is the best reviewed shopping cart software? There are good versions both hosted and licensed it basically comes down to what better fits your specific needs. For the very computer literate, the open source free software is probably more for you seeing as you can play around and customize it to your own site. However, if your knowledge is more basic or if programming and customization is not your main priority, then choosing a hosted solution would suit you better.
Many hosted sites off free trials, sometimes as much as 30 days. Reading reviews and getting more education on the subject is great, but nothing replaces first hand knowledge of the software. If available I would definetly say to try it out first. Testing the software will also allow the ability to check out the customization aspect to see if it is right for you and your company. This also provides a great opportunity to monitor the host companies technical support and see if that meets your expectations.
Taking word of mouth, in this big business decision is not the best route to go. Make sure you spend ample time researching and first hand testing of the software. You do not want to have your website up and running with customers already flooding in just to discover you have made a poor decision on you shopping cart software.
Which ever solution you choose, remember the most important goal is to give your shopper a delightful, simple timing checking out there purchases. Minimilizing confusion is key a shopper should never feel that they would need to go somewhere else because of troubling application. A customer should be able to easily pay for their items, know there shipping options in a clear and concise way, and be able to easily communicate or get in touch with you if the need arrises.
In todays society the internet has become quite a powerful purchasing and shipping tool. Anyone with a little knowledge and drive can put together an ecommerce site and reach a customer base so much larger than ever before. Making sure that you have right programs and tools in place to make is a successful, pleasurful experience will help solidify success.
