This article is an overview explaining how to generate sales leads online using Google AdWords.
If you find it valuable to get in front of your potential customers when they’re actively looking for what you sell then Google AdWords is one of the best ways to do this.
General process for generating sales leads using Google AdWords.
Give something away that is of value to your potential customers. Put your giveaway on your website and you require your visitors to fill out your registration form before they can access your giveaway. You generate leads when your visitors fill out your registration form.
You’re going to put your free giveaway on one of your web pages. Next you open a Google AdWords account, write an ad that entices your searcher to click on it, select a few keywords related to your giveaway, put the URL of your giveaway page in your ad. Your visitors will now be sent to your giveaway page.
Here’s the 4 steps to generating sales leads with Google AdWords.
1. Design Your Giveaway (Lead Generation Magnet). Giveaway something of true value here. Demos, trials, white papers, and how-to guides tend to work best.
2. Put your free giveaway on a page on your website (landing page). This page should have a headline clearly calling out the main benefit of your free giveaway then a paragraph or two describing your giveaway then 3-5 benefit driven bullet points, then a registration form where you ask for name, email, phone number (you have more fields in your registration form, the fewer requirements the more leads you’ll generate in general). Keep your landing page simple, few navigational elements. Remember your goal is to get your visitors to fill out your registration form.
3. Create a Google AdWords account. Once your account is created you want to setup an ad to promote your free giveaway. Put the URL of your landing page that you created in step 2 as the destination URL of your ad. This is where you’ll send your traffic. Choose a few keywords that are highly related to your free giveaway. Set your daily budget and maximum cost per click.
4. Use Google’s free conversion tracking code. After someone registers on your landing page you’ll have a page that appears (thank you page) this page will contain your free giveaway for download. Place Google’s conversion tracking code in the HTML code of this page so that you can measure how many leads you’re generating.
Next Steps:
Once you’ve completed these 4 steps you should start to see leads coming in. It is very important that you keep a close eye on your AdWords account. Monitor it daily and make improvements over time. You’ll likely want to test new keywords, ad copy, and landing page concepts. This type of testing is referred to as “optimization”. Your success depends on successful optimization over time.
